Baked Beef Brisket
This cooks all day long so prepare it when you'll be able to leave it in the oven or a dutch oven all day.
***Another option is using a crock pot by putting roast in a crock or oven safe roasting bag. Add a small amount of water to the pot. Cook 6-7 hours for a small brisket, and 8-10 hours for a large brisket.
Ingredients
- 1 beef brisket (4-5 pounds)
- 1 package onion soup mix (Make A Mix)
- 2 Tbsp water
- pepper to taste
- small boiling onions (optional)
- fresh mushrooms (optional)

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350. Lay brisket on 2 large sheets of heavy foil. Sprinkle with soup mix, water, salt and pepper. Place onions and mushrooms on top of meat. Fold up sides of foil and seal closed.
Bake 1 hour. Reduce heat to 250 and bake 9 hours for 5 pound roast, or 5-6 hours for a 3-4 pound roast.
Meat should be tender when pierced with a fork. Unwrap meat, pour juice, onions and mushroom on a platter. Slice meat and place on platter.
