Aunt Lela’s Maryland Crab Cakes

Delicious eastern shore tradition of Frank Hobb’s wife - Lela.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb crabmeat
  • 1 tsp. old bay seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbps. worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbps. parsley - chopped
  • 1 Tbps. baking powder
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • 2 slices bread, crusts removed (3, if thin slices)
  • milk

Preparation

Step 1

1. Remove any shells or fat from crab

2. Cut bread into cubes.

3. Place bread in large bowl. Moisten bread cubes with milk. Add remaining ingredients - mix gently.

4. Shape crab mixture into cakes.

5. Fry quickly at 350 degrees until brown.

Serve with lemon and cocktail sauce
