Kahlua Coffee BBQ Sauce 1 Picture


  • 1/2 c brewed coffee, not instant
  • 2/3 c organic ketchup
  • 1/2 c plus 2 tbsp Kahlua
  • 3 large shallots, peeled
  • 3 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tbsp tamari
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 2 tsp ancho chili powder
  • 1-2 tsp sea salt

Step 1

Place shallots, garlic and 3 tbsp of the ketchup in a food processor and blend into a paste.

Add that mixture along with the rest of the ingredients to a sauce pan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Lower heat and simmer 45 min or until reduced by ⅓ and has significantly thickened.

Taste and add salt and more spices if desired. Let cool in pan and then transfer to a glass jar and keep refrigerated until ready to use.

Note: Make sure your coffee is a stronger brew, anything mild or weaker brewed won't give as rich of a flavor.
