  • 1 1/2

    cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 1/2

    tsp baking powder

  • 1/2

    tsp salt

  • 1/4

    cup milk

  • Frosting:

  • 2/3

    cup creamy peanut butter

  • 1/2

  • 4

  • 1/3 to 1/2

    cup milk

  • Toppings:

  • 1/4

    cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1

    tsp shortening

Directions

Preheat oven to 350F. Grease a 15" x 10" x 1" baking pan. In a mixing bowl, beat peanut butter, shortening and brown sugar until creamy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt in a small bowl, then gradually add to creamed mixture and mix until combined. Add milk and mix well. Transfer to prepared baking sheet and smooth the top. Bake for 16-20 minutes or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack. For frosting: In a mixing bowl, cream peanut butter and shortening, then beat in powdered sugar. Gradually beat in enough milk to achieve spreading consistency. Frost cooled bars. Topping: Melt chocolate chips and shortening, stir until smooth. Drizzle over frosted bars. Note: Cut the bars before frosting them, but leave them together. Frost them as one and then separate with a spatula.
