Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 1/4 cups Mini M&M's, divided

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In bowl with mixer at medium-high beat butter and shortening.
Reduce speed to medium; beat in sugars until fluffy.
Beat in egg, yolk and vanilla.
Reduce to low; beat in flour, soda and salt.
Stir in oats and 1 cup M&M's.
Drop 1/4 cupfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets.
Flatten each to 1/2" thickness.
Press remaining M&M's into dough.
Bake 14-16 minutes or until golden.
Cool on racks 5 minutes.
Remove from pans; cool.
