Basic Pastry Shell

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons shortening
  • 2 tablespoons cold water

Preparation

Step 1

In small bowl place flour and salt. With pastry blender cut in shortening, until mixture resembles the size of small peas. Sprinkle water over flour-shortening mixture. Stir with fork to form ball.
Roll out on floured pastry cloth with rolling pin to 1/8-in. thickness. Let stand a few minutes before shaping. Use to line 9-in. pie plate shaping pastry to the edge of pie plate. Prick pastry with fork. Microwave at High (10) 5 to 6 Minutes.
