Ingredients
- 10 cloves garlic,minced
- 2 Tbs olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tsp dried thyme
- 6 lb boneless prime rib roast( if using a roast with bones,use a 9-10 lb roast and add 20 min to the cooking time)

Preparation
Step 1
Stir together garlic,oil,salt,pepper and thyme in a small bowl,spread mixture all over roast.(Best to let this sit overnight for the flavors to penetrate the meat)
Put roast fatty side up in a rack set in a roasting pan. Let meat sit on counter until room temp about 1 hr.
Preheat oven to 460-roast for 12 min
reduce temp to 400-roast for 8 min
continue roasting at 325 15 min per pound.
Take out and cover for 15 min.
allow meat to rest 15 min before carving so it retains its juices.
