- 1/4 Flour
- 1/2 tsp Fresh Ground Nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
- Dash of Salt
- 6 C Pippen Apples (sliced/peeled)
Preparation
Step 1
This recipe is for a 9" pie.
Heat oven to 425 degrees. Prepare pastry (I use Marie Callendar's prepared pastry) Stir together sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon. Dash of salt. Add sliced, pared apples. I use the French Apple Pie topping.
Recipe Follows: Mix together 1 cup all purpose flour, 1/2 c firm butter and 2/3 c brown sugar (packed). Mix until crumbly (do not use a food processor, this is best done by hand.) Pour onto pie mixture and place in oven for 50 minutes. If needed cover topping with aluminum foil last 10 minutes of baking if pie seems to brown to quickly.
Bake 40 to 50 minutes or until crust is done and juices are bubbly.
