Ingredients

    loaf of bread, cubed

  • 6

    eggs

  • 3

    cups milk

  • 1/2

    cup white sugar

  • 1

    teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1

    teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1-2

    tablespoons butter

Directions

1. Fill a 9x12 pan with bread cubes. 2. In a large bowl, beat together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon. 3. Pour egg mixture over bread. 4. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight to allow bread to absorb egg mixture. 5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 6. Dot with butter. 7. Bake about 50 to 60 minutes, until top is golden. 8. Serve plain, or with butter and syrup/powdered sugar. - Variations - CINNAMON/SUGAR Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar and over the top before baking. WHITE CHOCOLATE CHIPS/CRAISINS Before step 3, mix in 1 cup each of white chocolate chips and Craisins with bread cubes. BLUEBERRIES AND PECANS After baking for 30 minutes, sprinkle 1 cup of chopped pecans and 2 cups of fresh or frozen blueberries on top. APPLE/RAISIN Before step 3, mix together ½ cup brown sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Mix in 2 tablespoons melted butter. Stir in 3 cored and peeled apples and ½ cup raisins until evenly coated. PRALINES Before step 6, combine 1 cup butter, 1 cup packed light brown sugar, 1 cup chopped pecans, 2 tablespoons light corn syrup, ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon, and ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg in a medium bowl and blend well. Spread Praline Topping evenly over the bread before baking.
