Baked Mac-n-Cheese

This is my mom's recipe but I still find it the best. Use extra sharp cheddar if you really like a zing.

Ingredients

  • 2

    cups elbow mac.

  • 2

    cups milk

  • 2

    cups sharp cheddar cheese

  • 4

    Tablespoons butter

  • 4

    Tablespoons flour

  • 1/2 - 3/4

    cup toasted wheat germ

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. 1. Cook elbows according to package directions. 2. In a separate sauce pan while pasta is cooking. Melt butter and add flour to make a golden roux. 3. Slowly add milk, stir until thickened then add cheese. 4. Stir till melted. 5. Combine cooked pasta and cheese sauce. 6. Place into a 2 qt. casserole dish. Sprinkle top with wheat germ. 7. Bake at 375 for 30 minutes.
