Cake Balls (Pam Smith)

Ingredients

  • Baked Cake
  • Frosting (homemade or store bought)
  • Chocolate (I used Almond Bark)

Preparation

Step 1

1. Bake Cake according to directions
2. Once cake is done, slice the cake in the pan into sections. I normally cut it like I'm cutting small slices of cake to serve.
3. Once it's cool enough to handle, crumble it up into a bowl. Continue to crumble until you no longer see any chunks.
4. Add half of the frosting and mix. Continue to add frosting until the cake has a dough like consistency. If you use store bought frosting, you will use almost all of it.
5. Once you have it all mixed together, take out a portion and roll into a ball and place on wax or parchment paper. Continue until you have no more cake.
6. Put into freezer to chill for 2 hours (I normally just stick them in the freezer until they get cold).
7. Once the balls are chilled, melt the chocolate.
8. Remove the balls from the freezer and coat with chocolate. I normally just use a spoon and a fork to coat them but it's very messy. Put them back on the wax paper after coating. If you freeze them for 2 hours, you can stick toothpicks in them and coat them that way. It sounds like it might be less messy that way but I've never tried it.
9. You can put them back in the fridge to set up a little more or serve them when you are done.

Hope this makes sense. They are very easy just time consuming and messing.
