Swiss Steak

MICROWAVE TIME: 65 to 75 min.
NOTE: If thicker gravy is desired, stir in 2 tablespoons of flour per cup of juices. Microwave 2 to 3 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs. round steak 1/2-in. thick, tenderized or pounded with meat mallet
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 medium onion, sliced thin
  • 1 can (14 1/2-oz.) tomatoes

Preparation

Step 1

Cut meat in 6 pieces, then coat with mixture of flour, salt and pepper. Place in 3-qt. casserole. Cover with onion. Break up tomatoes with fork and pour over top. Cover. Microwave at Medium (5) 65 to 75 Minutes.

Swiss Style Cube Steak: Substitute 1/2-lb. cube steaks, 1/2-in. thick (about 6), for round steak. Cut in half, if desired.
