Homemade Chocolate Cake (no eggs)

Ingredients

  • CAKE:
  • 3 C. Flour
  • 2 C. Sugar
  • 1/3 C. Baking Cocoa
  • 2 Tsp. Baking Soda
  • 1 Tsp. Salt
  • 2 C. Water
  • 3/4 C. Vegetable Oil
  • 2 Tsp. Vanilla
  • 2 Tsp. White Vinegar
  • FROSTING:
  • CHOCOLATE CREAM CHEESE:
  • 3 OZ Cream Cheese,
  • softened
  • 1/4 C. Butter,
  • softened
  • 2 C. Powdered Sugar
  • 1/3 C. Baking Cocoa
  • Dash Salt
  • 3 Tbsp. Milk
  • 1/2 Tsp. Vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350º.

CAKE:
In a mixing bowl, combine flour,
sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt.
Mix dry ingredients well.
Add the water, oil, vanilla and vinegar;
mix well (batter will be thin).
Pour into a greased 9 X 13 X 2
baking pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes
or when tester pick comes out clean.
Cool completely before frosting.
FROSTING:
In a mixing bowl, beat the butter
and cream cheese. Add the powdered
sugar, cocoa, salt and vanilla.
Mix well. Spread over cake, store
cake in refrigerator. Take out
30 minutes prior to serving.
