Ingredients
- 1/2 Cup Shortening
- 2 tsp. Baking Soda
- Pinch of Salt
- 2 Eggs, well beaten
- 2 Cups Brown Sugar
- 3 squares Chocolate, melted
- 1 Cup Buttermilk
- 2 tsp. Vanilla
- 2 Cups Flour
- 1/2 Cup Boiling Water

Preparation
Step 1
Mix together shortening, baking soda and salt. Add eggs, brown sugar, and melted chocolate. Add buttermilk and vanilla and mix well. Add sifted flour slowly and mix well. After batter is completely mixed, add 1/2 cup of boiling water and pour into well-greased and floured cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Cool well on wire racks.
