Mom's Cole Slaw

Basic recipe is pepper cabbage, 'creamed' version is coleslaw

Ingredients

  • 1 firm head of cabbage
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup cider vinegar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed

Preparation

Step 1

Shred the cabbage and peppers. Put in a large bowl; add the sugar, vinegar, salt,

and celery seed and press with the hand until all juices are blended. Chill in the

refrigerator for at least 1 hour. A few grated carrots can be added for color and

flavor variation.

To make creamed add 1 cup mayonnaise.
