Chocolate Cream Pie

Ingredients

  • 1/2 (15oz) pkg refrigerated piecrusts
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teas salt
  • 3 cups milk
  • 4 egg yolks, slightly beaten
  • 2 (1oz) quares unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 1 tblsp plus 1 teas vanilla extract
  • Garnish: sweetened whipped cream and hershey's kisses

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 450.

Fit piecrust into a 9 inch pie plate. turn edges under and crimp. Prick bottom of crust with a fork; bake 10 to 12 minutes, or until lightly browned. Let cool completely.

In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, and salt. In a medium bowl, combine milk and egg yolks, stirring well. Add milk mixture to sugar mixture, whisking until smooth. Whisk in chocolate, and bring to a boil over medium heat, whisking constantly. Boil 1 minutes, whisking constantly. Remove from heat, and stir in vanilla. Pour into prepared pie shell, and chill at least 4 hours before serving.

Serve with sweetened whipped cream and Hershey's kisses, if desired.
