Desserts: Penuche

Ingredients

  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 T butter
  • 1 cup cream or evaporated milk
  • Nuts, as desired

Preparation

Step 1

Stir the cream or milk and sugar together over heat until well dissolved, then add the butter, meted, and cook to boiling, stirring constantly
Then cook with very little stirring till thermometer registers 238-240 degrees
Try the candy in ice water - it should form a soft ball when sufficiently cooked
Add vanilla and beat until creamy
Add nuts just before removing from heat
