Old-fashioned Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. almond extract
  • 2 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar

Preparation

Step 1

Cream butter and sugar. Mix egg and flavorings. Add flour, sifted with soda and cream of tartar. Refrigerate (covered) for 2-3 hours.

Heat over to 375.

Divide dough in half. Roll tin, Cut into shapes. Bake 7-8 minutes or till lightly browned.

When cool spread with a thin icing of powdered sugar, several drops of vanilla, and water.
