Candied Yams/Sweet Potatoes

This is the one dish that all my family wants at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Ingredients

  • 1 lg Can of Yams or 2 lg Sweet Potatoes
  • 1/2 C Brown Sugar (Packed)
  • 2 to 4 TBLS Canned Milk
  • 1/2 stick Butter
  • Large Marshmallows (to cover)
  • A few pinches of salt

Preparation

Step 1

If using fresh sweet potatoes peel, slice up and boil. If using canned yams drain all the juice from cans. In large frying pan melt butter. Mix in brown sugar, milk and salt. Bring to a slow simmer and add yams/sweet potatoes. Completely cover with syrup. Remove from pan and pour into casserole pan. Top with Large marshmallows and bake at 375 degrees until marshmallows have browned and melted. Approx. 10 minutes
