Ingredients

  • Crust:
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 c flour
  • 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 1 c almonds ground
  • 6 oz semi sweet choc
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp water
  • Filling:
  • 2 lbs cream cheese
  • 2 c packed brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 4 large eggs
  • Topping:
  • 1 c sour cream
  • 1/4 c packed dk brown sugar
  • 20 whole almonds

Preparation

Step 1

Crust: Preheat oven to 350. Butter spring form pans and sides. Using electric mixer beat 1/2 c butter and vanilla in large bowl. Add flour, crushed almonds, and sugar until forms small clumps. Press dough evenly on bottom of pan. Bake until edges start to brown, approx 20 min. Transfer and cool 5 min. Combine choc, 2 tbsp marg and water in heavy sauce pan. Stir over low heat and melt. Spread 2/3 of mix over crust, reserve remaining.

Filling: In large mix bowl, blend cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until smooth. Add eggs 1 at a time until blended. Spoon over crust. Bake approx 50 min until cheese cake moves only slightly when pan is jiggled (cake may crack). Cool 5 min.

Topping: Rewarm and mel chocolate. Mix sourcream and sugar till smooth. Spread over cheesecake. drizzle 1 tbsp choc over top. Return cheesecake to oven and bake 3 min. Cool 1 hr. Dip almonds in choc an arrange. Chill overnight.
