- cucumbers
- pickling spices
- pickling lime
- sugar
- vinegar
Preparation
Step 1
Wash and slice cucumbers, soak in lime water for 24 hours (lime water= 3 cups pickling lime and 2 gallons of water), drain and put in clean water, change water every hour for 4 hours, drain,
Syrup: 2 cups of sugar, 1 cup of vinegar, and pickling spice (place spice in a bag)
Bring syrup to a boil and pour over cucumbers, let stand overnight, boil 1 hr, take bag of spices out and place in hot jars.
