Oatmeal Bread (Nana's)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup rolled oats, regular not quick
  • 1/2 cup molasses (1/4 cup honey, 1/4 cup molasses)
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 5 cups flour sifted
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • 1 yeast package softened in 1/2 cup warm water

Preparation

Step 1

Pour boiling water over rolled oats, let stand 1 hour. Add molasses, salt, butter and yeast. Add flour. Beat thoroughly, let rise and beat again. Turn into buttered pans and let rise. Bake 40-60 minutes at 350, using a glass pan; 400 if aluminum.
