German Potato Onion Casserole

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 2 big onions
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/2 cup white wine
  • 1 cup milk
  • 6 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
  • salt, pepper nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon parsley
  • 2 cups shredded cheese

Preparation

How you make it
Preheat your oven to 395°F
In a large pot brown onions and bacon
Add butter and stir in flour
Add wine, milk, garlic and parsley, bring to a boil
Spice with salt, pepper and nutmeg as you like it
Add sliced potatoes and let them cook for about 8 minutes
Now stir in the cream cheese until smooth
Turn down the heat and let simmer for 5 minutes
Pour everything in a big casserole dish
Cover with shredded cheese
Bake for 30-35 minutes (check if potatoes are cooked)
