Ingredients

  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup honey, molasses, or maple syrup
  • 3 1/2 cups King Arthur Whole Wheat Flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons Instant Yeast dissolved in 2 tablespoons of the water in the recipe
  • 1/4 cup Dry Milk
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt

Preparation

Step 1

1) In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients and stir till the dough starts to leave the sides of the bowl. Transfer the dough to a lightly greased surface and knead it for 6 to 8 minutes, or until it begins to0 become smooth and supple.

2) Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl, cover it and allow the dough to rise till puffy (1hr.)

3) Shape the dough into a log and place into a lightly greased loaf pan, cover loosely with a lightly greased plastic wrap and allow to rise for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

4) Bake for 20 minutes then tent with aluminum foil to prevent from over browning. Bake an additional 15 to 20 minutes.

5) Remove from oven and turn it onto a rack to cool. Cool completely before slicing.
