Lumpiang Shanghai (Filipino Pork Spring Roll)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground pork
  • 1/3 cup grated carrots
  • 3 tablespoons minced shallots
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground peppercorn
  • 1 egg, slightly beaten
  • Spring roll pastry, separated
  • 3 cups vegetable oil for frying

Preparation

Step 1

Combine all ingredients except pastry.

Wrap in a spring roll pastry.

Deep fry in hot oil until golden brown on all sides ( about 4-6 minutes).

Drain and serve hot with a sweet chili sauce or ketchup as a dipping sauce.
