Ingredients
- 200 grams margarine -- at room temperature
- 100 grams (3/4 cup) confectioners sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 300 grams (2 heaping cups) flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
Preparation
Step 1
Cream the margarine and the confectioners sugar until creamy about 2 minutes. Add the vanilla. Add the egg with 1/4 of the flour. Mix until incorporated. Add the rest of the flour and mix just until incorporated.
Divide the dough in half and add the cocoa one half. Put both doughs in saran wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
Roll out each dough and place on top of the other. Roll up jelly roll style. Cut slices from the roll and place them on a floured board. Using a rolling pin, roll on the top of the slices so they blend together and make a zebra pattern. Cut out circles and make them into hamentaschen.
Bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes.
