Chocolate Chip Cookie Coffee Cake

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking sode
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 2 sticks butter or margarine -- softened
  • 1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350. Grease a 10 inch Bundt pan.

Sift the flours, baking powder, baking soda and salt onto waxed paper. Toss the chips with 4 teaspoons of the sifted mixture.

Cream the butter or margarine in a large bowl for 3 minutes. Add half the brown sugar and beat for 1 minute. Add remaining light brown sugar and beat for 2 minutes. Add the granulated sugar and beat for 1 minute. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating for 45 seconds after each addition. Blend in the egg yolk and vanilla extract. On low speed, alternately add the sifted mixture in 3 additions with the milk in 2 additions, beginning and ending with the sifted mixture. Scrape the sides of the bowl. Stir in the chips.

Bake for 1 hour until a toothpick comes out clean. The baked cake will pull away slightly from the sides of the pan. Cool cake on rack for 10 minutes.
