Ingredients
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
- 5 Tablespoons margarine
- 3/4 cup quick cooking oats
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 16 oz. can cherry pie filling
- 1 16 oz. can pitted tart red cherries -- drained
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 Tablespoons packed brown sugar
- 2 Tablespoons quick cooking oats
- 3 Tablespoons margarine -- softened
- 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
Preparation
Step 1
Grease a 10 inch pie plate. For crust, in a medium saucepan melt the 1/2 cup chocolate chips, and 5 T. margarine. Remove from heat; stir in 3/4 cups oats and 1/4 cup brown sugar. Press onto bottom and sides of pie plate to form a firm, even pie crust. Bake 350 for 10 minutes.
For the filling: Combine pie filling, cherries, and almond extract. Pour into baked crust.
For topping: stir together the 1/2 cup flour, 2 T. brown sugar and 2 T. oats. Cut in the 3T. margarine till mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in 1/4 cup chocolate chips. Sprinkle over filling. Bake 350 for 35 minutes.
