Anise Biscotti

My mothers favorite biscotti recipe. Great with a cup of coffee! A traditional Italian biscotti with rich anise flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1

    cup shortening

  • 5

    eggs

  • 1

    full 1 oz bottle of anise flavoring

  • 1 1/2

    cups sugar

  • 1/4

    c milk

  • 6

    cups flour

  • 1/4

    tsp salt

  • 5

    tsp baking powder

Directions

Cream first five ingredients. Slowly add the rest of the ingredients mixing well. Knead on a floured surface until all flour is incorparated and dough is smooth. Divide into 4 parts. Roll each part into a log the length of your greased cookie sheets. Place two long rolls on each cookie sheet. Flatten slightly with finger tips. Bake until golden. Cut in diagonal slice immediately out of the oven
