French Onion Fondue

Ingredients

  • Dippers:
  • 3 Tbs. butter
  • 1 1/2 c. finely chopped onions
  • 1/2 c. apple juice
  • 1/2 c. dry white wine or water
  • 1/2 lb. (2 c.) American cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, bell pepper, French bread

Preparation

Step 1

Melt butter in a 2-qt. saucepan; add onions. Cook over medium heat until carmelized (15-20 minutes).

Add juice and wine. Cook until mixture just boils. Add cheese, 1/2 c. at a time, stirring until melted. Transfer to a fondue pot or slow cooker.

Makes 3 cups.
