Ingredients

  • 5

    cups flour

  • 1 1/2

    teaspoons baking soda

  • 2

    teaspoons ground ginger

  • 1

    teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1

    teaspoon cloves

  • 1/2

    teaspoon salt

  • 1

    cup shortening

  • 1

    cup sugar

  • 1

    egg

  • 1

    cup molasses

  • 2

    tablespoons vinegar

Directions

1. In a medium bowl, combine flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt. 2. In mixing bowl, beat shortening for 30 seconds. Add sugar; beat until fluffy. Add egg, molasses and vinegar; beat well. Mix in the flour mixture. 3. Divide dough into thirds. Cover and chill about 3 hours (over night works best). 4. Cut out with cookie cutter or roll into pretzels. 5. BAake in a 375 degree oven 5-6 minutes. Cool on cookie sheet for 1-2 minutes, then remove. Enjoy!!!
