Bacon and Bourbon Pie Crust

Ideal for a different type of crust for pumpkin pie or any other savory pie

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups (6.4 oz) flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 3 tbs bacon grease
  • 5 tbs cold butter cut into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 2 tbs cold bourbon
  • 2 tbs ice water

Preparation

Step 1

1. Using a food processor, pulse together the flour, salt and sugar until thoroughly combined. Add bacon grease and pulse until incorporated. Add butter and pulse until pea-sized pieces.

2. Sprinkle bourbon and water over mixture and pulse once or twice until crumbly. remove from bowl and press together until it forms a dough.

3. Mold into disc and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate 2 hours.

4. Roll out into pie crust and place into 9 inch pie dish. Brush with egg wash to give sheen.
