Ingredients

  • 14 oz pkg light caramels
  • 1/2 c evaporated milk
  • 1 pkg german chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 c butter or margarine, melted
  • 1/3 c evaporated milk
  • 1 c chopped nuts (optional)
  • 6 oz pkg (1c) semi sweet chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

Grease and flour 13"x9" pan. Combine in heavy sauce pan, first two ingredients. cook over low heat, stir constantly until caramels are melted. Keep warm. combine in lrg bowl remaining ingredients except chocolate chips. Stir by hand until dough holds together. Press 1/2 dough into pan. Bake for 6 mins. Sprinkle with chocolate chips over crust. Spread caramel mixture over top. Crumble reserved dough on top. Bake 15-20 mins
