Ingredients

  • 2 - 2 cups and 2 tablespoons - flour
  • 2 - 2 teaspoons - Baking powder
  • 1/4 - 1/4 teaspoon - salt
  • 1/2 - 1/2 cup - butter, room temp.
  • 1 3/4 - 1 3/4 cup - sugar
  • 3 - 3 large eggs
  • 1 - 1 teaspoon - vanilla
  • 4 - 4 squares (1 oz each) unsweetened chocolate, melted
  • 1/2 - 1/2 cup - confectioners sugar

Preparation

Step 1

- mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In large bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in eggs until mixture is pale yellow, then add vanilla, and chocolate until blended.
- Gradually add flour mixture, mixing just to blend.
- Refrigerate dough approx. 1 hour.
- Heat oven 350 degrees.
- Lightly grease cookie sheet.
- Shape heaping teaspoon full into 1 1/4 inch balls
- Roll in confectioner sugar.
- Place 1 1/2 inches apart on cookie sheet.
- Bake approx. 12 minutes until tops are puffed and cracked.
- DO NOT OVERBAKE
- Cookies are soft when hot but firm and chewy when cool
- Remove to rack to cool.
- Store tightly up to 3 weeks with waxed paper between layers
