- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1 cup plain unbleached flour
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- Frosting
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 Tbsp butter or margarine, softened
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 2-3 Tbsp milk or cream

Preparation
Step 1
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Pour flour in to mixing bowl, add butter. Use pastry blender; work down to the size of peas. Add water 1 Tbsp at a time until soft dough forms, with a fork; divide in half. On ungreased cookie sheet, press dough to a 12/3 inch strip; set aside and make topping.
In a medium sauce pan, heat water and butter to boiling. Remove from heat immediately. Add 1 cup flour; stir until smooth. Add eggs 1 at a time, beat until smooth after each egg. Stir in 1/2 tsp almond extract. Spoon over crust. Spread to 3/4 inch from edge. Bake 50-60 minutes or until golden brown and puffy. Cool. Blend powdered sugar, butter, almond extract and milk until smooth; frost cooled kingle. Sprinkle with nuts. Cut each into 8-10 slices to serve.
