Ingredients
- 1 1/2 sticks butter
- 1 tbsp. soy sauce
- 1 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 2 tsp. ground ginger
- 15 cups (5 oz.) popped popcorn (see note)
- 3 1/2 cups (6 oz.) chow mein noodles
- 2 cups short pretzels, such as Gold Fish brand
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
Place the butter in a 2-cup microwave-safe container and cover it with a paper towel. Microwave 2 minutess on high or until melted. Remove the butter from the microwave and stir in the soy sauce, garlic powder and ginger.
Place the popped corn, chow mein noodles and pretzels in a large garbage bag (see note) Pour the butter mixture over the popcorn mixture and shake well to coat the mixture with butter.
Pour the popcorn mixture into a 15x10 inch roasting pan or use two smaller pans. Bake the mixture, uncovered, 30 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven and let the mixture cool to room temperature. Store in airtight containers, or zipper top bags at room temperature up to 1 month.
Notes: Some stores sell popcorn already popped in large bags or tins. If you can't find it, use microwave popcorn and pop your own.
When choosing a garbage bag for mixing, use a plain one that is not scented or coated on the inside.
