Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 cup cold milk
  • 2 c sugar
  • 1/3 cup white Karo (I use generic white corn syrup)
  • 2 T butter
  • 1 tea vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Stir all except vanilla together in a saucepan. Cook and stir to soft ball stage, full boil for about five minutes (approx 250°, but not quite, on a candy thermometer) Remove from heat, add vanilla and beat "forever" LOL, her words! I think the original recipe said beat (with a wooden spoon) until it looses its gloss and begins to stiffen.
