Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 pound beef top sirloin steak, trimmed and cut into strips
  • 1 cup chunky pasta sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup red wine (or use red grape juice with a splash of cider vinegar)

Preparation

Step 1

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat; add onion and saute until tender, about 5 minutes. Add steak strips; cook and turn so that all sides get browned, about 10 minutes. Add pasta sauce, garlic and red wine (or juice/vinegar). Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes or until steak strips are cooked through.

SERVING SUGGESTION: Serve steak strips over orzo. Add a big salad tossed with Easy Balsamic Vinaigrette (see recipes).
GLUTEN FREE: Make sure pasta sauce and wine are gluten free.
