Caramel Clusters

Ingredients

  • 1-14 oz pkg Kraft caramels (about 50 pieces)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 6 cups bite size square crisp rice or corn cereal
  • 2 cups pecans

Preparation

Step 1

Microwave Method:

Heat caramels and water in large microwave-safe dish on HIGH for 2 minutes; stir. Microwave for additional 2 1/2-3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds or until caramels are melted and mixture is smooth.

Conventional Method:

Slowly melt caramels and water in heavy saucepan over low heat stirring frequently until smooth.

Add cereal and pecans, mix lightly until well coated. Spread onto greased 15x10x1 inch baking pan. Bake at 300 degrees for 15 minutes. Stir cereal mixture around and bake for 10 more minutes. Spoon onto waxed paper, let cool thoroughly and break apart into clusters.
