Ingredients

  • Creme:

  • 6

    egg yolks

  • 1 1/2

    C sugar

  • 1/4

    C flour

  • 1

    quart D milk

  • 2

    tsp vanilla

  • Crust:

  • 2

    C flour

  • 2 1/2

    tsp baking powder

  • 1/2

    C sugar

  • 1/4

    lbs. butter (soft)

  • 1/2

    tsp salt

  • 2

    egg yolks

  • 1

    whole egg

  • 2

    tsp vanilla

Directions

Creme: Heat milk in saucepan. In another saucepan, add 6 yolks. Mix sugar with egg on low heat. When mix is smooth, stir in sifted flour. Stir constantly. Add vanilla and continue to warm. Add warm milk to egg mixture. Stir constantly until creme thickens and begins to boil. Crust: Mix dry ingredients. Add butter. Mix with a pastry blender until pea sized. Make a well and add eggs and vanilla. Mix. Cut in half and roll out both halves separately to make top and bottom. Put bottom into pan. Add creme. Put top on. Cook at 350 for 50 min or until creme is almost firm.
