Ingredients
- 3 c. sifted all-purpose flour 1 c. sugar
- 4 tsp. baking powder 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c.coarsely chopped walnuts 1 egg,* beaten
- 1/4 c. soft shortening 1 1/2 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
Step 1
Re-sift 1lour with sugar, baking powder and salt into a mixing bowl, stir in I 1/4 c. of the walnuts. Add egg,shortening, milk and vanilla. Mix just until ingredients are blended. Turn into greased and floured loaf pan 9x5x3 in. Sprinkle remaining 1/4 c. walnuts over top. Bake 350 deg. 60-70 minutes. Let loaf stand in pan 10 minutes. Then turn onto wire rack to cool. Makes 1 large loaf.
