Ingredients
- Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 lbs lean beef chuck (or meat of choice) - cubed
- 10 – 12 pearl onions sliced in half or 1 medium onion (cut into 1 inch pieces).
- 10 – 12 small new potatoes (red or white)
- 4 – 6 carrots – cut into 1 – inch chunks (I use whole baby carrots).
- 2 large ribs of celery, cut into 1 – inch pieces
- 1 rutabaga – diced
- 2 Tbsp. Worcerstershire sauce
- 1/4 cup + red wine
- 3 Tbsp dark brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/8 tsp allspice
- 1/4 tsp dried marjoram
- 1/4 tsp dried thyme
- 2 bay leaves
- 6 Tbsp minute tapioca
- 28 oz can diced tomatoes
- (I use 1 - 14 oz can roasted garlic/onion diced and 1 – 14 oz can petite diced tomatoes). Add a little diced garlic if using basic diced tomatoes.
- 2 pouches of Trader Joes Savory Beef broth (reduced sodium liquid concentrate) mixed with 1 & 1/2 cups hot water.

Step 1
Layer all ingredients in a slow cooker. Cook on low for 10 hours.
