Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups raisins
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 cups regular oats
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 2/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tbp dark molasses
  • 2 Tbp raisin water

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F

Grease several baking sheets and set aside. Wash raisins and put in a small sauce pan. Add the water and simmer for 3 mins or until raisins are plump. Drain and save the water. Sift the dry ingredients together and set aside in a bowl. Beat the butter and sugar together until creamy. Stir in the egg and molasses. Now add the flour mixture to the butter a little slowly. When well blended add the oats, raisins and raisin water. Dough is soft and sticky. Refregerate for 1 hour.
Take the cooled dough and by hand take about 1 Tbp of dough and roll into a small ball. Place on the baking sheet and flaten down with the wet spoon. It the spoon is not dipped in water the dough will stick. Bake for about 10 mins.
