Ingredients
- 1 pound challah
- 1 cup orange or apple juice
- 1/3 cup raisins or
- 2 large apples -- sliced
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup honey or
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 Tablespoons oil
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350. Remove crust from the challah and break into chunks into a large bowl. Pour juice over challah and soak until soft. Meanwhile soak raisins in hot water to soften.
Add eggs, honey, oil, vanilla, salt, and cinnamon to challah. Add raisins or apples to mixture. Combine well. Bake in greased 9 1/2x5 1/2 inch loaf pan for 45 to 50 min. Crust should be brown when done.
NOTE: For a fluffier kugel separate the egg whites from the yolks and beat whites until stiff then add to other ingredients.
