Ingredients
- 3/4 cup uncooked masoor dal (split red lentil)
- 1 cup chopped spinach
- 1 small onion , chopped
- 2 garlic cloves , finely chopped
- 2 green chillies , finely chopped
- 2 tbsp. ginger, grated
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 medium tomato , chopped
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 2 tbsp ghee
- salt to taste
Preparation
Step 1
Combine and wash the dal. Allow it to soak in warm water for 30 minutes. Drain.
Combine the dal with 1 1/2 cups of water in a glass bowl. Microwave on high for 10 minutes, stirring twice in between after every 3 minutes.
Add an additional 1/2 cup of water, cover with a lid and microwave on high for 3 minutes.
In another glass bowl, combine the ghee, onion, garlic, green chillies, ginger and cumin seeds and microwave on high for 1 minute.
Add the cooked dal and the remaining ingredients, cover with a lid and microwave on high for 4 minutes.
Serve hot.
Tip:
Use a large glass bowl, as the dal generally spills over when it is boiling.
