Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup (4 ounces) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

Step 1
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Combine flour and sugar in a large bowl. Cut in butter with a pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture is crumbly. Add milk, stirring just until moist. Stir in cheese.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
Knead with floured hands 3 or 4 times. Pat or roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness; cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter.
Place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 10 minutes or until golden.
