    stalks broccoli, stems and florets

  • 4

    garlic cloves, chopped

  • 1

    tablespoon date sugar

  • 1

    tablespoon Dr. Fuhrman's VegiZest

  • 1/2

    tablespoon cornstarch

  • 1

    teaspoon sesame oil

  • pinch red pepper flakes, to taste

  • 1

    8-ounce can sliced water chestnuts

Directions

Peel broccoli stems, then cut up the florets and stems into small pieces and steam for 8 minutes. In a small pan combine the rest of the ingredients, reserving water chestnuts, but using liquid from the can. Simmer on low heat for a few minutes. Add water chestnuts and then mix in with the broccoli.
