Ingredients
- 50 grape leaves
- 1 1/2 lbs lamb, sirloin or turkey, coarsely ground
- 3/4 - 1 C rice (white or brown)
- 2 T salt
- 2 t allspice
- 2 t pepper
- water
- garlic powder
- juice of 2 lemons
- 1/3 C olive oil
- plain yogurt (optional)
- unleavened pita (Syrian) bread

Preparation
Step 1
Blanch the grape leaves with boiling water, then rinse with cold water. Wash the rice 3 times.
Place meat, rice spices and 3/4 - 1 C water in bowl. Hand mix.
Layer the bottom of a crock pot with some of the grape leaves. Stuff remaining grape leaves and place in circle in pot. Sprinkle each layer with garlic powder. Fill pot with water
to top.
Cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours. (You will have to put something on top of the crockpot lid.)
Drizzle lemon juice and olive oil over all. Serve with or without plain yogurt and bread.
