Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1-1/2 cups canola oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • Additional sugar

Preparation

Step 1

In a large bowl, beat sugar and oil until blended.

Beat in eggs, then molasses. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, ginger and cloves; gradually beat in to sugar mixture. Refrigerate, covered, 2 hours.

Preheat oven to 375°. Shape level tablespoons of dough into balls; roll in additional sugar. Place 2 in.apart on parchment paper-lined baking sheets.

Bake 8-10 minutes or until top are cracked. Cool on pan for 1 minute. Remove to wire rack to cool completely.
