Ingredients
- 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 pound (2 2/3 cups) pitted whole dates, snipped
- 1 4 oz container (2/3 cups) candied cherries, halved
- 2 candied pineapple slices, chopped (1/2 cup)
- 1/2 cup coarsely chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup whole filberts
- 1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
Preparation
Step 1
In large bowl, cream together sugar and butter or margarine till light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, beat well. Stir together flour, soda and salt.
Add to creamed mixture beating till combined. Stir in fruits and nuts. Chill batter. Drop by slightly rounded tablespoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake in 325 F oven for 12 minutes. Store baked cookies overnight in airtight container to soften. Makes 4 dozen.
